I started playing golf in 2005 when I gave up my career in baseball. The sport attracted me so much that I added it to our range at our travel agency, which primarily specialised in Alp skiing holidays.When I realised the terrible quality of the photographs of many of the beautiful golf courses, I decided to try photographing them myself. The resulting pictures, and reactions from the golf resorts were so good, that I am still photographing golf courses today.
I believe that the best way to promote a golf course is with really quality pictures. So if you are in need of the best tool for marketing your course, I am very happy to help. I also believe it‘s very difficult for non-golfers to photograph a course so that it appears attractive to golfers. I’m a perfectionist, so it takes me at least three days, sometimes up to five, to photograph one course. We have perfect light conditions for just one hour in the morning and again one hour in the evening, so if you really want the best possible photos, you need plenty of time. Usually the fact that I’m the co-owner of a travel agency means that we are able to come to a mutually successful arrangement which is normally the best solution for most resorts.
In 2014 I started producing golf calendars in which I present the most interesting photos I have taken in the last year and I strive to show the beauty of golf courses from around the world to our clients and partners.
At the moment I am mostly using a Nikon D800 with an objective 24-70/2.8. I have recently added a DJI Mavic 2 PRO drone to my equipment, which provides a completely new view of the course and ariel shots which were not possible before. This means that flat areas, which were almost impossible to photograph in an interesting way from the ground, can be captured in all their beauty from the air.
